Messier 78 – Casper the Friendly Ghost

Messier 78, nicknamed the Casper the Friendly Ghost Nebula, is a bright reflection nebula in Orion. Its bluish glow comes from starlight reflecting off cosmic dust. M78’s ghostly appearance and nearby dark lanes of gas make it a favorite target for astrophotographers and deep-sky observers alike.
