Pencil Nebula – NGC 2736
NGC 2736, known as the Pencil Nebula, is a slender filament of glowing gas in the Vela Supernova Remnant. Located about 800 light-years away, it is the visible shockwave from a supernova explosion that occurred thousands of years ago, creating beautiful, wispy structures of ionized hydrogen and oxygen.
